2009 First Drop Fat of the Land Greenock Shiraz

Matured in 50% new French oak hogsheads for 24 months the fruit for this wine was sourced from the Barossa sub-district of Greenock. Totally opaque black crimson colour with very deep black crimson hue. The nose exhibits excellent perfumed lift with scents of liquorice allsorts, ripe blackberry and dark chocolate bullets arising from the glass followed by some vanillin confectionary like notes. The palate delivers a voluptuous rich flavour profile of ripe blackberry, liquorice and dark plum with some underlying dark chocolate and spice nuances. The velvet smooth tannins in conjunction with the luscious fruit provide the wine with a fleshy plush mouthfeel. Excellent depth with long dark chocolate, dark plum, blackberry and spice aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-8 years.
