2008 Cape Mentelle Trinders Cabernet Merlot

Produced from blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon and 36% Merlot with the majority of fruit sourced from Cape Mentelle’s Trinders, Wallcliffe and Foxcliffe vineyards. Maturation took place in selected Bordeaux coopered barriques of which 25% were new for 18 months.

Very deep near opaque dark red colour with dark red mauve hue. The nose displays lifted notes of tobacco leaf, mulberry, cedar and spice. Medium to full bodied the palate is softer and more forward than the 2007 release. Generous flavours of ripe blackcurrant, dark chocolate and spice followed by some cedar and cigar box on the back palate. Very fine grained tannins with long aftertaste of dark blackcurrant, spicy cedar and cigar box.
A drink now Cabernets that could also be cellared for another 3-4 years (2010-2014)
