Matured for 12 months in older French oak hogsheads, the base wine was then bottle fermented and aged on its yeast lees for 2 years. Excellent frothy purple tinged creamy mousse showing good hold. Very dark red black base wine colour with exceptionally fine bead showing good persistence. The nose displays lifted aromas of ripe blackberry and dark plum followed by a touch of liquorice with some leathery end notes. Full bodied and richly concentrated the palate delivers mouthfilling flavours of ripe blackberry, liquorice, dark plum and spice with the emergence of some dark chocolate and leathery characters on the back palate. Long aftertaste of blackberry, liquorice, dark chocolate and leather.
Drink over the next 4-5 years (2016-2017).
