A superb follow up to the 2003 Blackwell

Winemaker Stuart Blackwell produces two outstanding Shiraz wines from vineyards aged between 10 and 100 years. The differing age of the vines, coupled with vineyards located on different terroirs produces wine of great complexity. The flagship ‘Old Block’ has developed over time to express a structure of feminine elegance and finesse, whilst the ‘Blackwell’, the second of the flagship wines can be described as a boisterous young adolescent, full of power, energy and needing nurturing to reach its full potential. The Blackwell is matured in a range of new and old, fine grained American oak. A superb follow up to the 2003 Blackwell.

Opaque black crimson colour with black purple hue. Violet top notes followed by cedar, vanilla, spice and liquorice. The palate is mouthfilling, with the typical Barossa voluptuous palate weight. ‘Joosy’ flavours of liquorice allsorts, blackberry, plum, vanilla and spice. Excellent, fine grained tannin structure. Very long spicy, liquorice and plum aftertaste.
