Grape variety: 100% Barbera D’Alba
Region: In the northern Italian region of Piemonte. The D.O.C. production zone is the hilly area around Alba in the province of Cuneo. The flat or semi flat valleys are not included in the classic zone. The characteristics of the soil are either a mixture of Clay and Lime or Sand and Lime.
Characteristics: This is an outstanding wine of intense ruby red with tendencies to develop a darker garnet colour with age. It has a delicate bouquet but is concentrated on the palate. It is full bodied and lightly acidic on the front palate in its youth and is tamed and rounded becoming more balanced with age. It is aged in oak for at least 12 months and generally released at 18 months. It will age for at least another 5 - 10 years
Serve: open 1-2 hours before and drink at room temperature.
