2002 Katnook Estate Coonawarra Shiraz

A beautifully integrated wine. Oak maturation was 15 months in American oak barriques, 35% of which were new with the balance predominantly 2nd fill. Opaque brick red colour with brick red hue. The nose is delightful, with aroma of vanilla, spice, chocolate, cocoa and plum. Mouthfilling palate with layers of flavours and impressive palate weight. Dark chocolate and pencil shavings are overlaid with vanilla and soy. Fine grained tannins. Excellent length and balance. Very long aftertaste of cedar and charry oak.
