2001 Longrow Rundlets & Kilderkins 11 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Springbank has released a limited edition of 9,000 bottles of Longrow (their heavily peated dram) distilled in November 2001 and matured in small casks (traditionally known as rundlets or kilderkins, 15 and 18 gallons (Imperial) respectively), which generally leave an impression of accelerated maturity. Sold out in the UK, we expect this won't last long. Very limited stocks.

Tasting note: Deep gold / brass appearance. Superb opening sniff yields kelp and wet wool mingling with notes of brown sugar and vanilla. Second pass is sweet earth / manure-like, refreshed by hints of old liquorice strap. Further time in the glass finds choc fudge and vanilla more prominent. A terrific bouquet. Shows stunning balance throughout opening with a creamy entry, leading into a rich, malty, vanilla laced delivery with more peat, peppermint and old liquorice towards the finish. Wonderfully controlled spices. Ends prolonged and dry with the choc fudge, vanilla and lanolin notes persisting. 51.7% Alc./Vol.
