2001 Cape Mentelle Trinders Vineyard Cabernet Merlot

An impressive red. Very deep black crimson colour with deep purple hue. Lifted nose with blackcurrant, spice and mulberry notes, followed by a touch of spicy oak. On the palate the mulberry, spice and blackcurrant flavours are quite evident, followed by an aniseed back palate. There is a hint of leafiness evident, but is more than acceptable and tends to be a ‘complexing’ factor rather than a detraction. Perfectly balanced tannins, followed by a very long blackcurrant spice aftertaste.
