Winemaker, Andrew Millis first fell in love with Heathcote after tasting the wines of Wild Duck Creek. Intent on producing wines that express the regions very special terroir, Andrew leaves nothing to chance and to ensure the vineyards success, he returned to the source of his inspiration, learning his winemaking skills from Wild Duck Creek’s, David Anderson.

This wine is named after Henry Bennett who was the first owner of the original Barnadown Run. The wine is made from a blend of 60% Shiraz, 25% Cabernet and 15% Malbec and matured in a combination of old and new American and French Oak barriques. This is a big red, reflective of the power and quality that the Heathcote region is capable of delivering. Very deep crimson colour, with deep mauve hue. The nose is filled with the aroma of dark chocolate, spice, black pepper and liquorice with the Malbec extending its influence as an end note. Mouth filling palate with outstanding length and depth. Strong flavours of vanilla and liquorice over dark chocolate and mocha. The malbec reasserts its self on the end of the palate contributing firm dry tannins, which are in balance. Very long aftertaste of dark chocolate, mocha and spice. Despite the relatively high alcohol, there is no sensation of heat on the palate. An outstanding blend.
