- Closure: Cork
Krug Clos du Mesnil 2000 has tones of luminous, very light gold with hints of green. Krug Clos du Mesnil 2000 tasting notes reveal indulgent flavours of peaches and white blossoms, gingerbread, honey and orange zest. On the nose, Krug Clos du Mesnil 2000 offers seductive aromas of ripe apple, toffee, barley sugar, short crust pastry, raisins, honey, acacia and citrus fruits. - Notes sourced from Moet Hennessy
There is no fingerprint of place more pronounced than the mineral voice of the soil that resonates in the most distinctive champagnes. In all Champagne I have not tasted a wine of such earth-shaking minerality as Clos du Mesnil 2000. It rumbles to the very core of the earth deep below the mesmerising site, then rises on the finish, like a shard of pure chalk erupting from the surface of the Clos itself
Tyson Stelzer - The Champagne Guide 2014-15
Krug's 2000 Brut Blanc de Blancs Clos du Mesnil keeps getting better and better. The flavors are starting to develop lovely layers of complexity, while the wine is also fleshing out a bit, releasing gorgeous layers of texture. Lemon oil, jasmine, white flowers, almonds and spices wrap around the deep, resonant finish in a striking Clos du Mesnil with a bright, bright future. This was bottle N. 6617.
Antonio Galloni – Vinousmedia.com Nov 2013
I have had the opportunity to try this vintage 3 times since it was released and while two bottles showed superbly the third seemed a bit tired and lacking the stunning depth of the other two. However the two good examples were outstanding with some secondary character to the yeasty aromas of brioche and citrus peel. There is an ultra-clean and sophisticated mouth feel to the middle weight flavors that are supported by an ultra-fine mousse, all wrapped in a notably dry but not really austere finish that possesses excellent lift that contributes to that beguiling feeling of being impatient for the next sip. While this will easily hold for years for my taste this has arrived on the front edge of its peak drinkability.
