This is a Merlot that needs 2-3 years to settle down, as it is quite disappointing at this stage. The grapes were picked at optimum ripeness, fermented in open fermenters, and then matured in new French and American casks. Very deep opaque crimson colour with brick red edges. Appealing nose, with aromas of vanilla, confectionery and mulberry, followed by a truffle end note. The palate structure is tight, with the fruit being subdued by the firmish tannins, which over power the palate and aftertaste. Cellar 2-3 years minimum.

RATING: 80/100

Medium body, crimson brick red colour. Aroma of spice and mulberry. The palate structure is tight, with the tannins being too aggressive for the fruit. Spice, plum, mulberry aftertaste with a hint of blackpepper emerging. Cellar 3 – 4 years.
