Notes sourced from Brand’s of Coonawarra

The legend of the Brand’s of Coonawarra vineyards dates back to 1896 when Captain Stentiford established a 28 hectare vineyard in the heart of the legendary strip of terra rossa soil and named the property “Laira” after a holed square-rigged ship. It is believed that the “Laira” was the ship that actually delivered the vines which Captain Stentiford planted in this vineyard. Over a century later, these old vines are still producing grapes of exceptional flavour and intensity.

Rich damson colour. Complex and intense bouquet with spice, plum and mulberry fruit characters, rich dusty cedar and cinnamon oak aromas. Dark chocolate and marzipan, derived from barrel maturation and bottle-age, are also evident. Rich and full-bodied palate with layers of ripe plum, spice and blackcurrant fruit flavours over spicy cinnamon, cedar oak and smooth dark chocolate. The wine finishes long and dry, with fine-grained dusty tannins. This wine is enjoyable now, but will benefit from five to ten years careful cellaring. Decant before serving.
Alc/Vol: 14.5%
