1998 Tatachilla Chardonnay

This is a chardonnay that shows great complexity and certainly offers excellent value for money. Relying on induced complexity which has been imparted by the winemaking process. Whole bunches of grapes were pressed to maximum flavour. The juice underwent oxidative handling (exposure to oxygen, to create deeper colour and added flavour), barrel maturation and extended yeast lees contact. Bright straw colour. Excellent, fresh uplifted nose of butterscotch, cashew and spice. Good body weight with creamy texture and butterscotch, biscuit and almond flavours persisting, followed by some carefully balanced toasted oak flavours. Long butterscotch and nut aftertaste. Cellar 3-4 years.
