1998 Dog Ridge Vineyard DV7 Shiraz

The DV7 designates a 60 year old low yielding block of Shiraz. The wine has been matured for 22 months in French and American oak. Very deep crimson brick red colour, already showing signs of bottle maturation. The nose is impressive. Lifted notes of spice, violets and cedar followed by a hint of leather. The palate displays good weight and moderate length. Distinct flavours of blackpepper dominate the palate followed by a hint of spice and earth. Fine grained tannins, perfectly balanced followed by an aftertaste of leather, blackpepper and liquorice.
