Bright straw colour. The wine is a little broader than past vintages on the palate and comes across a touch flat. Grassy, herbaceous nose with some confectionary notes. The palate reflects the nose, with grassy herbaceous gooseberry flavours, the acid is satisfactory. Cellar 1-2 years.

RETASTED: Bright pale straw colour. Intense, fresh, grassy, herbaceous nose with some gooseberry and tropical fruit end notes with just a hint of pencil shavings. The palate is more subtle than in previous years with delicate herbaceous, tropical fruit and spice flavours. The acid levels are quite soft with a spicy unripe gooseberry aftertaste. Drink this year.

RETASTED 13/11/1999: Bright straw colour. Aroma of green tea, unripe tropical fruit with some grassy overtones followed by ripe tropical fruit end notes. The palate counterpoints the tropical fruit and ripe gooseberry flavours quite well, yet it is the tropical fruits that dominate, leaving the herbaceous grassy end notes to reappear on the back palate. Soft acid finish, followed by grassy tropical fruits aftertaste. Cellar 1-2 years.
