1997 Devil's Lair Margaret River Cabernet

Made from a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon and 23% Merlot. The vintage of 1997 was very late with the Cabernet Sauvignon not being picked until late April. The wine was matured in new and one to two year old French oak. The 1997 vintage has no Cabernet Franc compenent in the blend which has resulted in a more concentrated and deep style of Cabernet Sauvignon. The palate displays dark berry and briary layers of fruit with some subtle sweet merlot flavours on the middle palate. Fine grain tannin structure and long aftertaste. The 1997 Devil's Lair Cabernet is also tighter in structure than prevoius vintages. Cellar 10 years. 13.5% alcohol volume.
