1986 De Bortoli Noble Traminer (375ml)

This was an experimental wine and formed part of the development process in assessing Griffith's suitability as an area for botrytized wine production. The fruit was only lightly botrytized at the time of picking, however, time has certainly added great complexity to the wine.Deep toffee gold colour with green rim, showing signs of bottle age. This nose is slightly caramelized with aromas of orange, spice, nut, honey and green tea as an end note. The palate displays developed flavours, which have developed halfway between honey, and amontillado sherry with nuances of caramel and citrus, followed by traces of fully ripened 'mouldy' orange and nectarine. A wonderful curiosity and a bargain at the price. A must for Wine and Food Societies. Cellar 2-3 years before the acidity drops right out.
