2023 Riposte The Dagger Pinot Noir

Winemaker Tim Knappstein and son Nick are the names behind the Riposte range of wines, sourcing fruit from dedicated growers in the Adelaide Hills.

Semi translucent bright red to dark red colour with black toned edges and a light red hue. Alluring scents of red cherries and strawberries infused with a combination of violets and fresh herbs sail through the nostrils with terrific intensity. Delicate rhubarb and spice notes ensue. Expansive and highly seductive, the palate is flooded with juicy red cherry, strawberry and anise flavours which overlay a subtle dried herb, forest floor and spice back drop. Boasting superb power and concentration for it’s price, it has a gorgeous silky feel, velvet smooth tannins and finishes long, fresh and spicy.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.

Sourced from the Gumeracha and Lobethal districts, this pours without pretension, light ruby in the glass, cherry fruit and tree-wood fragrance to get you interested. Then pure and straight Pinot flavour profiling with a little anise to add some spice. Bright and perky in the finish, with enough lingering Pinot forest-like earthiness to convince you it’s the real deal, even in its “lite” styling. Very drink-easy.
