2011 Bordeaux En Primeurs Offer

Overall, 2011 is a good vintage, presenting a return to classicism that will have to live in the shadow of the stellar 2009 and 2010. Of course, some sectors have done better than others. After the dream run of 2009 and 2010, Bordeaux as a region, was reminded of the primacy of the natural elements, their impact on viticulture, and the fact that vignerons can never rest on their laurels. The following is a brief report.

Vintage School 1.5 - Hitching a Ride with the Molecules. The Mechanics of Smell

Even when we can identify the physical source of an odour, most of us have less idea than the ancients as to how odours are sensed or of their make up. This fascinating research concludes the first section of Vintage School concerning our senses of smell and taste.

How We Score the Wines

Introduction | Visit Winespider |

The tasting panel at Nicks Wine Merchants taste hundreds of wines each month. Some are good, few are excellent while many are bad or indifferent. How do we arrive at the scores we do? The rating system we use is by no means arbitrary, rather it is methodical, transparent and self policing.
