2022 Paxton MV Shiraz

Certified organic and biodynamic with maturation taking place in French oak for a period of 12 months. Deep midnight black core with a dark red black tinged hue. Aromas of blackberry and liquorice mix with vanillin cedar, subtle scorched earth and peppered fennel notes. Rich and plush the medium to full bodied palate is awash with blackberry, liquorice and dark plum fruits. Fennel, scorched earth, vanillin cedar and pepper elements lurk in the background. Velvet smooth tannins finishing long, succulent and silky.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

MV stands for multiple vineyard, the team have six biodynamic vineyards in the region and this wine has fruit from four of them. The wine spent a year in French oak and presents as a purple colour. This is tight and concentrated with a nose that shows black fruits, chocolate, charcoal and black cherries. Seamless in structure, the palate offers cloves, soy and aniseed. Very good focus and length here, with silky tannins on the finish, a finish which maintains its intensity right through. Ten years. Drink 2024-2034.
