Matured in new French oak for 36 months. Totally opaque black core with a deep dark to brick red black tinged hue. Potent ripe blackcurrant scents mix with liquorice, earth, vanillin cedar, dried herb and subtle leather notes. Rich blackcurrant fruits flood the full bodied palate with some liquorice, earthy vanillin cedar, leather and spicy dried herbs lingering on the back half. Finishes dry and firm with a robust tannin structure and long slightly chewy aftertaste.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
Alc. 13.8%
Other Reviews….
A barrel selection from the best vintages from Home Block vineyard, 30 months in French oak, then 4 years cellaring at the winery. It is opulent yet well balanced, repeated tastings revealing a wine of great class with a long future.
