2012 Bannockburn Chardonnay
Bright straw colour with a flicker of green around the outskirts and a pale straw hue. Pronounced aromas of white peaches, honeycomb and cashew are followed by some biscuity oak, butterscotch and spice. Medium bodied, fresh and possessing good richness lively white peach flavours are intermixed with dried honey and cashew wrapped up in a creamy like texture with nuances of bees wax, citrusy nougat and spice following. Clean dry finish. Long aftertaste of dried honey, white peaches, bees wax, cashew and citrusy nougat.
Cellar 4-5 years.
Alc. 12.5%
Other Reviews….
Whole bunch-pressed, transferred without settling to barriques, puncheons and tank for wild yeast fermentation and 2 years maturation on lees. Deep, but bright, yellow; a very complex wine that coasted through its long time in barrel; white peach, fig and pink grapefruit do the talking, not the oak as one might expect; despite its complexity, has an exciting fresh finish. 1000 dozen made. Drink by 2025.
