The Rogues Lane vineyard is situated at the southern end of the Heathcote wine region on Wild Duck Creek and the first crop was harvested in 1998. The first couple of vintages were produced at Wild Duck Creek with the following releases handled by John Ellis at Hanging Rock. Matured for 24 months in American and French barriques. Pitch black heart with a dark red hue. Pronounced aromas of aniseed and liquorice are followed by some vanillin oak, mocha, earth and spice notes. Rich and weighty the opulently textured palate is a concentrate of aniseed and liquorice flavours which sit atop a vanillin oak, scorched earth, mocha and spicy fennel back drop. Excellent power with a ripe, velvety yet sturdy tannin structure. Concludes long, expansive and plush.
