This whiskey is produced at the scenic Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort (close to Woodford Reserve Distillery if you are touring). Buffalo Trace is the home of numerous other whiskies such as Eagle Rare , Blanton's and Rock Hill Farms. This is a single barrel bourbon, which unlike most, carries no age statement. Rather, it's bottled when Elmer T. Lee, Master Distiller Emeritus at the Buffalo Trace Distillery, determines that the barrel is at its peak. Lee is a native Kentuckian who's also had a hand at producing some of the finest Bourbons ever bottled. When asked, “How do you get to be a master distiller?' Lee comments, 'Experience is the only way I know to get there. You can’t study it in school; you can’t learn it over the Internet… it’s on-the-job training.'

Other reviews... Amber gold. Delicately complex teasing aromas, with a potpourri of spices, floral notes, and complex fruit (oranges, plum, pineapple, coconut). Soft and smooth in texture. Impeccably balanced flavors and subtly complex, with notes of exotic fruit, subtle spices, almonds and soft honey tones. One of the most balanced, most drinkable bourbons I've ever tasted, and very smooth. This whiskey is so subtle, its greatness can easily be overlooked with one encounter. But the more you drink it, the more you realize what a great bourbon this is. Elmer, take a bow! 45% Alc./Vol.91 points.

Other reviews...Nose: Sliced toasted almonds. Palate: Butterscotch pie. A hint of sweet lemons. Finish: Gently balancing dryness. Comment: Delicious. Dangerously drinkable. Bigger and richer than I remember.
