Cadenheads Small Batch Glenallachie -Glenlivet 20 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

The Glenallachie-Glenlivet distillery was founded in 1967. It's rarely seen as a single malt with the majority of the 4.2 million litre capacity going to blended whisky. This unusual release from the reputable Cadenhead firm was distilled in 1992 and bottled in 2013. Matured for 20 years in Bourbon hogsheads, it's limited to 516 bottles.

Tasting note: Light, pale gold with some minor particles evident. An engaging sniff includes unusual notes of unleavened bread, rice crackers, hints of old coins and parchment. Releases added sweetness in the second pass as cocoa and hints of fruit emerge. Surprisingly light in the mouth showing text book balance with lovely biscuit and sweet malt flavours; late sugars include a subdued fruitiness. Pure and gently warming through to the finish, but doesn't evolve further in the aftertaste. 59.1% Alc./Vol.
