Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz established Two Hands Wines in 1999 with the aim of making the best possible Shiraz based wines from prized Shiraz producing regions in Australia including McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley, Langhorne Creek and of course Heathcote. This wine realises an opulent expression of Barossa Shiraz, with some muscle. Sourced from mature, gnarled vines, hence the label's title, the wine was matured in French oak for a period of 12 months, of which 15% was new and the remainder one to six year old oak.

A classic richly styled Barossa Shiraz with a bold muscular structure

Totally opaque inky black purple core showing excellent colour saturation with a very deep dark purple black hue. Intense aromas of ripe dark plum, blackberries and chocolate bullets overlay vanillin oak and light spice. Rich succulent flavours of ripe dark plum, blackberries and liquorice flood the palate followed by some vanillin confectionary and spicy pepper. The round opulent nature of the fruit perfectly counterpointed by a slightly dryish finish with sturdy tannins giving the wine some muscle, yet showing excellent integration. Long liquorice, blackberry, vanillin confectionary and blackpepper aftertaste.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc 14.2%
