The name Woodcutter’s stems from owner/winemaker David Powell’s several years spent working the Scottish Highlands as a lumberjack in the Torbreck forest. "This is the kind of red I liked to drink with a hearty meal after a hard day’s work in the woods" says Powell. He understands how to make a wine that's the perfect ‘knock off’ drink - unpretentious, eminently satisfying and priced to allow for regular indulgence. The fruit for the Woodcutter’s Shiraz is sourced from hand harvested and hand tended plots throughout the North Western Barossa Valley and fermentation takes place in a combination of cement, wooden and stainless steel vats for 6-7 days. It is then basket pressed to well seasoned hogsheads and French oak foudres for 12 months and bottled without fining or filtration.

Rich & Voluptuous Torbreck’s Woodcutter Shiraz consistently gives you bang for your buck.

Superb colour showing excellent depth with an inky black dark purple core with a very deep dark purple hue. The nose exhibits dark fruit aromas of black cherries, dark plums and liquorice over some smoky oak and spice. Rich, opulently textured flavours of black cherries and dark plums swamp the palate followed by some liquorice with a back drop of spicy smoky oak. Velvet smooth tannins. Long aftertaste of black cherries, spicy dark plums, liquorice and smoky oak.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
