The fruit for Sevenhill’s Inigo Shiraz is sourced from vines ranging in age from 40 to over 100 years old. The wine was basket-pressed and matured in a combination of new (25%) French oak barrels and older French and American oak.

A fantastic Value Clare Valley Shiraz that’s densely textured delivering richness and power in abundance.

Totally opaque inky black purple colour with a very deep dark purple black hue. The nose is filled with aniseed top notes accompanied by some ripe black cherries, blackberries, toasty vanillin oak and spice. Big and rich the palate is awash with luscious dark fruit flavours of liquorice, black cherries and blackberries over a background of smoky vanillin oak with a long peppered finish. Firmly built, slightly chewy, yet well integrated tannins provide the framework. Excellent concentration with a very long powerful aftertaste of liquorice, ripe black cherries, smoky oak and pepper.
Cellar 5-6 years.
Alc 15.2%

Other Reviews….
The vines are more than 70yo, 100yo slate open fermenters, hand-plunged, basket-pressed, matured in 25% new French and 75% used French and American oak. Dense, inky purple-crimson, this is a vinous black hole in space, fruit, oak and tannins implacably welded together, not allowing the alcohol to make a mark. Rich rewards for patience (minimum 10 years). Drink by 2038.
