2012 Turners Crossing Shiraz Viognier

A blend of 95% Shiraz and 5% Viognier that has been aged in older French barriques for 16 months. Opaque black crimson colour with a dark crimson purple hue. The nose displays top notes of ripe blackberries and dark plum followed by some liquorice and a vanillin oak background. Full bodied the palate presents an opulently textured mouth feel with rich ripe dark plum, blackberry, liquorice and subtle dark chocolate flavours over some vanillin cedar and spice. Slightly dryish finish with a sturdy yet very fine grained tannin structure that is well concealed by the wines opulent nature. Long ripe blackberry, liquorice, subtle dark chocolate and spicy vanillin cedar aftertaste.
