Shaw & Smith's Chardonnay vineyard is a multiclonal blending of I10V1, Bernard 95 and Bernard 76 from Burgundy. Fruit is hand picked, chilled and whole fruit pressed prior to barrel fermentation and maturation in French Oak. Some wild fermentation, extended time of yeast lees and partial malolactic fermentation impart further complexity and flavour. The result is a sophisticated style with obvious French inspiration.

Bright pale straw gold colour. Aroma of biscuit, yeast lees, hazelnut and cashew, showing hallmarks of barrel fermentation. The palate reflects the nose, layered with secondary flavours. Almonds, hazelnut, biscuit and yeast lees. The palate is dry, reminiscent of White Burgundy. There emerge hints of fig and melon over hazelnut and cashew with lees back palate. Clean acid finish. Aftertaste of yeast lees, hazelnut and cashew.
