Very deep black purple with mauve purple hue.  Perfumed nose with distinct violet top notes followed by spice, blackberry and black pepper.  Mouthfilling palate.  Spicy liquorice and confectionary flavours fill the mouth, followed by blackberry, black pepper and spice.  Velvet tannins, perfect balance.  Very long aftertaste of black pepper, plum and blackberry.

Alc/Vol: 14.5%

First tasted, March 2004:
Opaque black purple colour with black purple hue. The nose is lifted with flavours of blackberry juice, violets, plum, spice and fresh liquorice. The palate has the big joosy trademark fruit flavour profile that Ben Riggs manages to extract from all regions. Abundant flavours of spice, liquorice, blackberry juice and violet infusions. Fine grained tannins. Very long aftertaste of blackberry, spice and ripe plum with distinct black pepper finish. This is a young wine and lacks a little complexity at this stage.
Cellar 2-3 years (2006-2007)
Rating: 91/100
