2001 Annie's Lane Cabernet Merlot
The 2001 reds are beginning to emerge, and promise some exciting drinking ahead. The 2001 Annies Lane is quite youthful still, having spent 12 months in a combination of French and American oak. Very deep crimson mauve colour, showing its youthfulness. The nose is impressive, with excellent lift, displaying aroma of liquorice, blackcurrant, spice, vanilla and just a touch of cinnamon. On the palate, flavours of spice and liquorice, followed by inky plum. Fine grained firmish tannins, followed by a long chocolate, spice, plum and liquorice aftertaste.
Cellar 2-3 years (2004-2005)
