Jim Murray's “World Whiskey of the Year”
three years in a row!

The George T.Stagg releases are becoming legendary. This 2009 bottling was double distilled in the Spring of 1990 from Kentucky Corn, Minnesota Rye and North Dakota Malted Barley. The whiskey was found on the eighth floor of Warehouse I with 89 barrels being bottled without filtration after sixteen years and three months maturation. Nearly 60% of the original spirit was lost to evaporation. The result is yet another classic Stagg expression. Named “World Whiskey of the Year” three years in a row by famed whiskey writer Jim Murray.

n24 crisp, fruity, almost smoky in its toastiness; the corn offers a subtle oil despite the mega aroma;
t24.5 puckeringly sharp delivery as a double whammy of oak and sharp rye-style notes both strike gold: one of the finest deliveries of the year; manuka honey and liquorice entangle deliciously for the middle ground;
f23.5 long, with vanilla storming the ramparts having seemingly waited its moments;
b24 on first tasting this at the distillery last year, my knee-jerk reaction was that this was a fair distance behind the Weller. However, with whiskey this massive, it takes 4 or 5 hours to unravel its mysteries. Taste this only if you can give it the time.
