2014 Chateau d'Yquem Pre-arrival Offer
Very little needs to be said when introducing Chateau d'Yquem as almost everyone will know this remarkable estate, at least by name. And while Chateau d'Yquem can be as much as twice the price of the other top wines from Sauternes, with time in bottle its greatness becomes apparent. It stands head and shoulders above all other sweet wines, and not just from Bordeaux, with an enviable track record for producing some of the most mesmerising wines ever seen. A key to the success of the wine is in the multiple passes in the vineyard throughout harvest. The estate is one of the very few in the district utilising a mixture of both semi and fully botrytised grapes in order to maintain a balance of sugar and acidity, and the resultant wines show incredible layers of flavour, being both rich and fresh.
It's this freshness that typifies the 2014 rendition. Picked over the course of 9 weeks, a quarter of the harvest was in early September during the first of three botrytis cycles. Later harvests focused on more highly concentrated grapes, and have given the 2014 Chateau d'Yquem an incredible depth of flavour and spice, while maintaining a citrus acid spine. As shown in the reviews below, it is a remarkable wine that is up there with the best the Chateau have produced.
We are offering the 2014 Chateau d'Yquem in various size formats for two weeks only at this special pricing. Also available is the latest 2015 Y (Ygrec) d'Yquem, the dry white from Chateau d'Yquem. Stock is due to arrive in June 2017.
