In Australia, Usquaebach, until recently was only available for the duty free market. It has for some time, however, had considerable success in the U.S. and was used at the 1989 U.S. Presidential Inauguration Luncheon and for Bill Clinton's toast to British Prime Minister, John Major when he visited in 1994.

Robert Burns immortalised Usquaebach (Gaelic for water of life) in his poem, “Tam O’ Shanter”: “wi usquaebach, we’ll face the devil!” Usquaebach Reserve is a blend of older select scotch whiskies – the oldest being an impressive 27 years old. The core of the blend is up to 85% malt, finished for a minimum of 18 months in sherry wood. It is medium weight and appeals to most tastes. It makes an unexpected gift as Usquaebach is relatively unknown, even among seasoned whisky lovers. It weighs in slightly higher than average at 43% alc./vol.
