Sunny Ridge Fragola Port (Strawberry Port) 375ml

This ‘Port’ has been matured by infusing strawberries and matured in oak. The infusion is very light and it’s hard to detect the strawberry character – which is as subtle as that found in non traditional strawberry ice cream. The infusion process itself seems weak – and maybe it’s because the spirit in which the infusion took place was relatively low alcohol strength. The best infusions are made with 100% pure alcohol and then cut back. The other explanation for it is that the infusion time was too short.

Onion brown colour with orange hue. Delicate rancio nose with just a hint of strawberry jam. The spirit is clean but shows little length. There is a touch of caramel with light citrus notes emerging. Creamy texture. Light aftertaste of caramel with nuances of spice. A curio!
