1997 Rest & Be Thankful Linkwood 18 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

With historical ties to Bruichladdich, independent bottlers, 'Rest & Be Thankful' have had a strong focus on Islay. More recently they've expanded the range to include other notable distilleries. Linkwood is part of the Diageo stable and produces malt whiskies for blending, predominantly for the Bell's & Haig labels. We've tasted many independent expressions which are typically layered with chocolate and dried fruits. This tasting was limited to a 20ml sample - just enough to paint the picture and recommend.

Tasting note: Matured in a Bourbon cask. Pale amber gold. Aromas of fresh sponge cake, pear tart and straw bale. Linear on entry, building to an intense and juicy-yet-dry malt with white pepper and delicate fruitiness evolving; Finish highlights lemon tart and dried grass. Excellent concentration. Uncomplicated, salivating malt. Great Linkwood. 53.1% Alc./Vol. 270 bottles released. Non-chill filtered.
