Kilchoman 100% Islay 8th Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

These 100% Islay Kilchomans are released in limited runs annually, offering the distillery's only expression made solely from barley grown and malted at the distillery. For 2018 the final blend is a vatting of 23 bourbon barrels and 7 oloroso sherry butts filled between 2008 and 2012. As opposed to Kilchoman’s standard 50ppm offerings, the 100% Islay range weighs in around 20ppm. Sherry casks add extra richness.

Other reviews... This expression was distilled from Optic barley grown and malted (to 20ppm) at Kilchoman and matured in a mix of bourbon and sherry casks. A whiff of smoke, lemon curd, vanilla, and allspice on the nose. Supple in the mouth, with baked apples, sherry, and fruity peat. Spicy dark chocolate and nutty oak on the finish.
