2019 Pedestal Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon - Damaged Label
Winemaker Larry Cherubino has followed up the superb 2018 Pedestal Cabernet Sauvignon with an equally good rendition from 2019. Good winter and Spring rainfall were followed by a cool summer which resulted in an extended ripening period and later than usual grape harvest delivering low yields of excellent quality. Fruit for this wine is sourced from a range of vineyards located throughout the Margaret River region with aging taking place in a combination of new and 1-2 year old French oak barrels for a period of 10 months.
A refined yet generously flavoured expression of Margaret River Cabernet that well and truly over-delivers.
Midnight black in colour with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Expressive red to black currant and mulberry aromatics are complimented by cedary tobacco characters, black olive and a whiff of bay leaf. Medium bodied, the palate is layered with rich red to blackcurrant and mulberry fruits which overlay subtle cigar box, black olive and infusions of bay leaf. Possesses both depth and refinement with a polished matrix of tannins providing the framework. Long classy finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
