2019 Mollydooker The Boxer Shiraz - Damaged Label
Sourced from McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek the flamboyant Boxer Shiraz is famed for it’s massive fruit weight, voluptuous texture and decadent richness. The 2019 vintage was barrel fermented and matured in 100% American oak, 34% of which was new, 44% one year old and 22% two year old barrels.
On a scale of pure hedonism, the Boxer knocks it out of the park.
Impenetrable inky black heart with a deep dark red black hue. Heady ripe black cherry, liquorice and black plum scents waft from the glass with subtlety toasted vanillin oak, fennel and spice notes ensuing. Incredibly rich and lavish, the thick, voluptuously textured palate is saturated with lush blackberry, liquorice, black cherry and black plum fruits which overshadow a back drop of toasty vanillin oak, fennel and spicy pepper characters. The level of toast on the oak appears to have been taken down a notch or two on previous vintages. Magnificent power with velvet smooth tannins and a long decadent aftertaste.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
