Briefly, since the Trijol family settled in St Martial Sur Né, in the heart of the Cognac region, they have built on their expertise as growers and producers, becoming full time distillers in 1962. This dual facility maximises quality control. Big brand houses do very little distilling themselves. Rather, the 5,000 independent farmers in the region create the majority of Cognac in their own pot stills. The large houses then focus on managing the complex processes of storing, maturation, blending and marketing. Remaining an independent family firm, Trijol has twenty 2,500 litre charentais pot stills and is now one of the region's biggest distillers, actually supplying many of the larger houses. More recently, they've concentrated on releasing their own cognacs which have quickly established a reputation for high quality.

This is part of Trijols 'Grande Classique' range, predominately produced from Ugni Blanc grapes and matured in Limousin French oak.

Tasting note: Brilliant topaz / dazzles in the glass. Very expressive nose offering a wonderful bouquet of ripe stone fruits (peach, apricot, fig) plus hints of vanilla, light cedar and dried flowers. A medium to full bodied, silky textured and nicely rounded Cognac loaded with plush flavours of ripe apricot, dried fig and dates. Balances with prune, light pepper and cedar wood through the finish. Typifies the house style which tends to be fruity and full flavoured rather than understated and elegant. 40% Alc./Vol.
