A new Finnish venture that came about after a sauna and drinks session. The distillery operates from inside an old Cheese factory, located by the river Kyrö in Isokyrö, a small town with a population of about 5,000. After enduring two years of building and bureaucracy, the first rye spirit was turned out in 2014.

Pronounced "Na-pu-eh" the gin is made from a pot distilled rye base that includes botanicals such as meadowsweet, sea-buckthorn, cranberries and birch leaves. It was awarded “Best Gin for Gin and Tonic” at the prestigious International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC), competing in a blind tasting with 150 other distilleries. The casked-aged version also won gold in the same category.
There's a lot happening in this little gem, and we suggest keeping it simple, or just adding lemon, lime and/or cucumber as a G&T.

Tasting note: Clear and slightly viscous. Unusual floral / red berry / ribena-like opening scents are followed by fresh notes of juniper / thyme and delicate citrus peel. Almost oily with a creamy, mildly spiced entry and a tangy, piney juniper, sweet oregano, pepper and lemon myrtle finish. Excellent persistence. Love the texture here. 46.3% Alc./Vol.
