Kill Devil Single Cask Fiji (South Pacific Distillery) 14 Year Old Rum (700ml)

Indie whisky bottler, 'Hunter Laing’s' new foray into the rum market offers a range of limited edition single cask rums from across the Caribbean. The collection references an old term for Rum (there were many). By 1650, the British (in Barbados) and French (on Martinique) had established the plantation system. The Caribbean was about to become a massive sugar making factory and distillery. The former waste product known as molasses was now being distilled, but mostly without expertise, and the results were according to one unknown source, "a hot, hellish and terrible liquor". In the English colonies it was called 'Kill Devil' (from its tendency to cause a nasty hangover or for its perceived medicinal power, take your pick) or 'rumbullion' (origins uncertain), which was shortened over the years to 'Rum'.

This Fiji edition was distilled at the South Pacific distillery, a.k.a., the Fiji Rum Co, established in 1980 and located in Lautoka in the stunning Nadi region. Bottled at 46% Alc./Vol. with an outturn of 355 bottles, this is your chance to try one of the Pacific’s best kept secrets!
