Created to celebrate the birthday of Frank Sinatra, who had he still been alive today, would have marked his 100th birthday in 2015. By way of a homage to one of its most famous drinkers, Jack Daniels is offering what is arguably its most prestigious and expensive whiskies ever - the Sinatra Century, drawn from just 100 barrels handpicked by master distiller Jeff Arnett and bottled at 100 proof.

Reportedly, the barrels were modified with interior grooves designed to “coax the whiskey to greater depths of white oak and give the whiskey a complexity of flavours – imparting Sinatra Century with a robust and refined taste.”

The packaging is super-slick, in fact it is without doubt one of the most impressive presentations we've seen from any spirit category. It includes a hardbound tribute book about Sinatra and the whiskey, as well as a replica of Frank’s tie clip that contains a digital, never-before-released complete concert recording of Frank at his best, on stage at The Sands Hotel and Casino in 1966. A truly remarkable opportunity to secure what is one of the highlights in JD's long stream of collector releases.

Other reviews... Rich and sweet on the nose: crème brûlée, unfinished oak furniture, circus peanuts, overripe warm melon. Corn puffs and sweet cornbread, vanilla cream, oak density, firm heat, and an affably full mouthfeel that doesn’t thin till the very end. Easily one of the best Jack Daniel’s whiskeys I’ve ever had, but the price is jaw-dropping even today (the package does include a previously-unreleased 1966 concert recording of Old Blue Eyes). 91 points
