Heartwood Convict Resurrection 14 Year Old BATCH HH0239 Cask Strength Single Malt Australian Whisky (500ml)

The Heartwood venture commenced in 1999 and represents a selection of casks, several containing some of Australia's oldest Tasmanian Whisky stocks, owned by whisky enthusiast, Tim Duckett. The variety of barrel types include Bourbon and Australian Port and Sherry.

The latest release was matured in an American oak Port cask.

Tasting note: Deep polished copper. Opens with hints of pickled onion becoming more marzipan-like until the second pass which reveals choc-fudge and light raisin bread. Remains a little shy in the subsequent inspections but with added freshness - peppermint chocolate? Creamy, sweet entry preludes a massive bittersweet attack; almost crushing weight but delivered with astonishing balance. The mid palate bittersweetness gradually gives way to dense sugars as pulsing spices carry vanilla, marzipan and subtle banana cake into the aftertaste. Extraordinary in more ways than one.
