Heartwood Convict Redemption Batch 2 12 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Whisky (500ml)

This is the second release under Heartwood's Convict Redemption label. Distilled in May 2001 and drawn from a Port cask in December 2013. 177 bottles are on offer.

Tasting note: [BATCH 2 tasted] Very deep polished copper colour. Raw sugar, vanilla and ginger biscuit alternate with traces of pickled onion and sulphur and an alcoholic lift that threatens to anaesthetise the nasal cavity. Second pass detects suggestions of honey, date and old liquorice strap. Entry is creamy and sweet unfolding with a formidable bitter-sweet attack, the intensity of the spices hollowing the profile before the sugars emerge again late into the aftertaste. Lip numbing.
