Heartwood @#$%^&* Cask Strength Single Malt Australian Whisky (500ml)

Tim Duckett comments, "This whisky has caused me a great deal of grief. Hence its name."

Drawn from cask number TD0124 (2nd Fill Port maturation for seven years) then finished in 2 x 1st Fill Sherry casks for a further 3 years. Filled in August 2006 and bottled in May 2017 at an ABV of 62.5%. Reportedly Duckett gave all the barrels plenty of verbal abuse.

Tasting note: Deep amber. Sumptuous, plump malt to the point of decadence. A touch of green chile amid the dense prunes, dates and vanillas. Formidable concentration: the oily / creamy texture counterpoints the later bittersweet attack. Spicy plum pudding, vanilla, raisin, then more sugars and orange spice cake to finish. A few drops of water goes a long way, although the balance is quite good straight. Be sure to taste it uncut first. 337 bottles produced.
