Glenfiddich Distillery Edition 15 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Speyside, Highlands, SCOTLAND
$110.00 Bottle
  • ABV 51%

Glenfiddich remains the best selling Single Malt in the world and is the brand that took the unprecedented step of launching Single Malts as a unique category back in the early 1960's.

It remains one of only a handful of family owned distilleries in Scotland, and the proprietors, William Grant & Sons, do retain extensive stocks of older material for those consumers at the 'high end' of the passion scale. Those who were lucky enough to snap up last year's "Snow Pheonix" release will know the Grant's are capable of some truly adventurous whiskies.

This is their latest offering as of July 2012: A special distillery edition boasting an unconventionally high ABV at 51%, aged for 15 years. The only question that remains is, will this satisfy any one besides fans of Glenfiddich?

Tasting notes: Bright gold appearance. Rich, soft aromatics issue lovely dried fruits and cereals combined with dried coconut and sweet spices. Soft and round entry builds with good concentration into a semi sweet, delicately spicy, fruit-paste kind of profile with a superb creamy, juicy malt crescendo. Outstanding balance for a cask strength whisky. Concludes dry and light with a subtle dried fruit aftertaste that disappears a little too fast. Like several other of Glenfiddich’s limited releases, this teases with some sublime moments but doesn't follow through. 51% Alc./Vol.
