Egans 10 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey (700ml)

IRELAND
$129. 99
Bottle
$1559.88 Dozen
ABV: 47%

The Egans have been making whiskey since the 1800s and did so up until the 1870s when they lost out to the multinationals. This represents a rebirth of the P&H Egan brand after family members set about resurrecting the label in 2013. Two whiskies are on offer - a single malt and a single grain. Both mark auspicious beginnings.

Tasting note: A 100% pot still Irish whiskey matured in American oak. Pure gold. Beautiful nose – opens with a floral-soft mix of ripe orchard fruits, buckwheat pancakes, vanilla cream and beeswax. Surprisingly concentrated with superbly pure flavours of apple, pear and honey, framed by vibrant spices and a gorgeous, oily, creamed-up finish that melts in your mouth. Excellent length. Very satisfying, solid Irish. 47% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... The nose is superb, with oat and pecan flapjack, cocoa powder, nutmeg, star anise, and caramelized brown sugar. Golden syrup laced with strands of citrus swim within a smooth, thickly textured malt. A rich sweetness spills over, unctuous with sweet honey and nuts over a base layer of spice. Confident, self-assured, expressive whiskey.
