Malt whisky lovers should keep an eye out for the new offerings being released by the reputable Cadenhead firm under their 'Duthies' label. Mr Duthie was the nephew of William Cadenhead and ran William Cadenhead Ltd from 1904 until his untimely death in 1931. He was also the person most responsible for building the reputation of Cadenhead's as a bottler of single malts and rum.

The latest addition to Duthies 'Copper Still' collection is a Glengoyne 15 Year Old. Glengoyne is notable for using barley that has been dried using warm air, rather than that dried from the smoke of peat fires. Historically, the distillery has also maintained a preference for "Golden Promise" barley, a variety that's less efficient to farm, but said to contribute an attractive oily and nutty flavour to the whisky. Very unusual to see this distillery as an independent release. Only 312 bottles available world wide.

According to Duthies, expect: "Butter and zesty marmalade, confectionary and cloves on the nose with a fruity. round, soft and very smooth palate. Finish: A dry oily finish with lingering sweetness."
